Matthew Sauve Drives In Four As Grandview Greyhounds Varsity Wins Over Prosser
Matthew Sauve showed timely hitting on Saturday, driving in four on two hits to lead Grandview Greyhounds Varsity past Prosser 20-8 on Saturday. Sauve drove in runs on a triple in the fourth.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Grandview Greyhounds Varsity collected nine hits and Prosser had eight.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity opened up an early lead in the first inning when Chaco Gomez singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Gelo Cardenas doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity put up seven runs in the fourth inning. Cardenas, Sauve, Gomez, and Fabian Bravo all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Prosser scored three runs in the second inning. Ty Belt and Gio Soto each drove in runs during the inning.
Cardenas was on the pitcher’s mound for Grandview Greyhounds Varsity. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out five.
Ben Mulbry started the game for Prosser. Mulbry went one-third of an inning, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one. Trevor Taylor and Isaac Bestebreur entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity tallied nine hits. Sauve and Cardenas all managed multiple hits for Grandview Greyhounds Varsity. Cardenas and Sauve each collected two hits to lead Grandview Greyhounds Varsity. Hunter Varela led Grandview Greyhounds Varsity with five stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 15 stolen bases.
Prosser collected eight hits. Tre Webb and Diego Contreras each collected multiple hits for Prosser.
