Grandview Greyhounds Varsity Can’t Catch Up To East Valley
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-7 loss to East Valley on Saturday. East Valley scored on a groundout by Garin Gurtler in the first inning, a walk by Bryce Larkin in the first inning, and a fielder’s choice by Kobe Taylor in the second inning.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity collected three hits and East Valley had five in the high-scoring affair.
East Valley got on the board in the first inning. Gurtler grounded out, scoring one run.
Grandview Greyhounds Varsity notched five runs in the sixth inning. Carlos Guillen, Matthew Sauve, Chaco Gomez, Cole Judkins, and Jaime Tovar powered the big inning with RBIs.
East Valley scored four runs in the fifth inning. East Valley offense in the inning was led by Aiden Estill, Gurtler, Easton Hyatt, and Mason Bailey, who all drove in runs.
Kaden Taylor got the start for East Valley. The fireballer went four innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out six.
Cooper Kleinow was on the pitcher’s mound for Grandview Greyhounds Varsity. Kleinow surrendered six runs on two hits over four innings, striking out seven. Sauve, Guillen, and Judkins each contributed in relief for Grandview Greyhounds Varsity.
Judkins, Devin Paeschke, and Kleinow all had one hit to lead Grandview Greyhounds Varsity.
Taylor led East Valley with two hits in four at bats.
